Dear Colleagues:

I have just learned that Dr. Patrick Gullane was named to the Order of Canada. The Order of Canada is our country's highest honour. In addition, Pat will be awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of England on January 19, 2010 in London. This is the College's highest award to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to surgery.

We all know Pat as a friend and mentor who has done much to improve the lives of patients and as someone who has shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with his colleagues in Canada and around the world.

On behalf of all of us, I want to extend to Pat our deepest congratulations for these accomplishments.

Sincerely yours,
Joseph C. Dort MD MSc FRCSC FACS
