Sunday, May 14, 2006 - 06:45 Lakeshore Route, Kelowna This year's social program will start with a 5K fun run. Kelowna's lakeshore route has no traffic and marvellous scenery. We invite all the Society runners and walkers to get out early and enjoy a great start to the day. Participants should meet on the pool deck of the Grand Okanagan Resort at 06:45. This historical site was originally built in 1917 as a fruit packing factory. It now houses two of the city's best museums, the B.C. Orchard Industry Museum and the B.C. Wine Museum. TOUR OF KELOWNA LAND AND ORCHARD Tuesday, May 16, 2006 - 10:00 A bus will take participates to KLO, a very old, long-standing orchard. There will be a guided wagon tour of this beautiful setting overlooking the lake. Individuals will learn about the history of the farm as well as how an orchard is run. At the farm, there is a shop that sells local produce. As well, there is a small petting zoo. Arrangements have been made for a cooking demonstration and a delectable lunch at the wonderful little restaurant on site which overlooks the lake and valley. Please meet in the lobby of the Grand Okanagan Resort at 10:00. Bus transportation provided. COST: $60 per adult / $20 per child (up to 15 years) / No charge for children 3 years & under OPTIONAL COMPANION ACTIVITIES Monday, May 15, 2006 Several optional activities will be available on this day. CHILDREN'S PROGRAM Kids are invited to a get-together during the President's banquet on Tuesday evening. Details will be available at the registration desk. Food, drinks, games and/or a movie with organized supervision will be provided. Suitable for children ages 3 and up. Children are also invited to accompany their parent(s) on the companions' tour of KLO at a reduced cost.
