    The 60th Annual Meeting qualifies for 23 HOURS under CATEGORY 1 of the RCPSC MAINCERT program.

    “SETTING UP OTOLOGIC DATABASES” presented by the OTOLOGY SUBSPECIALTY GROUP
    SKAHA ROOM, THE GRAND OKANAGAN RESORT, KELOWNA, BC

    This talk will encompass Dr. Matthew Yung’s extensive experience in setting up otologic databases in several European countries and allow surgeons at all levels, community, secondary and tertiary care, to keep track of their outcomes and surgical experiences. They also allow a standardized way of pooling outcomes across institutions, and with the adoption of this database Europe, across countries.

    The objectives are -
  • to understand the principles of database design for otolaryngologic surgery
  • to develop a system to audit results in otological surgery
  • to develop a common language to describe otologic outcomes so data can be pooled across centres.

    This year's social program will start with a 5K fun run. Kelowna's lakeshore route has no traffic and marvellous scenery. We invite all the Society runners and walkers to get out early and enjoy a great start to the day. Participants should meet on the pool deck of the Grand Okanagan Resort at 06:45.

    Laurel Packing House and Art Arc, Kelowna

    Please join us for wine-tasting, lots of finger food and dessert at Kelowna's Laurel Packing House. This historical site was originally built in 1917 as a fruit packing factory. It now houses two of the city's best museums, the B.C. Orchard Industry Museum and the B.C. Wine Museum. The Laurel House is a very short walk across the street from the Grand Okanagan Resort.     TOUR OF KELOWNA LAND AND ORCHARD
    Tuesday, May 16, 2006 - 10:00
    A bus will take participates to KLO, a very old, long-standing orchard. There will be a guided wagon tour of this beautiful setting overlooking the lake. Individuals will learn about the history of the farm as well as how an orchard is run. At the farm, there is a shop that sells local produce. As well, there is a small petting zoo. Arrangements have been made for a cooking demonstration and a delectable lunch at the wonderful little restaurant on site which overlooks the lake and valley. Please meet in the lobby of the Grand Okanagan Resort at 10:00. Bus transportation provided.
    COST:  $60 per adult / $20 per child (up to 15 years) / No charge for children 3 years & under

    Payment can be made by CHEQUE or VISA CREDIT CARD ONLY. NO OTHER CREDIT CARD WILL BE ACCEPTED. A full refund of the registration fee will be given for cancellations received before APRIL 12, 2006. A fee of $50 will apply thereafter. Register early and avoid the substantial increase in the late and on-site fees. Written acknowledgement of registration WILL NOT be provided prior to the meeting.     ALL POSTER BOARDS are 4' x 8' with a 1" metal border. Boards are covered in fabric therefore you must use VELCRO FASTENERS. Use your own or you can purchase some on site.
