  • Review the anatomy and physiology of the frontal sinus.
  • Review current surgical techniques for the treatment of chronic frontal sinus disease.
  • Recognize the importance of technical expertise and instrumentation for successful surgery in the frontal recess.
  • Review intra and postoperative complications that may arise from frontal surgery.
  • Review the need for Image Guidance.


  • At the end of the course, the participants should have a good understanding of the:
  • Anatomy of the frontal recess.
  • Physiology and drainage pathway of the frontal recess.
  • Different options available for dealing with differing grades of disease and obstruction in the frontal recess/sinus.
  • Role of stents and mitomycin C in the stenotic frontal recess.
  • Treatment of complications when they occur during frontal recess/sinus surgery.
  • Role of image guidance in frontal sinus surgery.
  • Indications and contraindications for carrying out an osteoplastic flap.
