Clinical Fellowship Otology/Neurotology  
– Dr. M. Bance and Dr. D. Morris (1 year).  This is a FUNDED position.

This position incorporates a 70% clinical, 30% research split and is funded. It includes experience in chronic ear surgery, skull base, cochlear implants, middle ear and bone conduction implants, vestibular disorders and Eustachian tube, with exposure to basic science and applied research.

Research Fellowship in Otology-Neurotology
– Dr. M. Bance. (1 year)

This is an unfunded (self-funded) position, that involves research in our 3 EAR labs and clinical research. Research areas are: developing new ear imaging technologies using high frequency ultrasound and OCT, middle ear mechanics -physiology and reconstruction of the middle ear, cochlear implant related research, bone conduction mechanics and outcomes, eustachian tube diagnostics, and home diagnostic test development. The Fellowship comes with opportunity to observe clinically 1 to 2 days a week, but is PRIMARILY research. Applicants MUST be fluent in oral and written English.

Head and Neck Fellowship

This comprehensive one year head and neck surgery fellowship was initiated in July, 2007. The fellowship includes advanced head and neck oncologic surgery, endocrine surgery, reconstructive surgery including microvascular surgery (approx. 50-60 free flaps), transoral laser microsurgery and facial plastic and cosmetic surgery. The fellowship is open equally to Canadian and foreign trained individuals.

Fellowship in Rhinology / Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery
– Dr. Erin D. Wright, 1 year (June – July) (C)

This fellowship will provide a broad experience in Rhinology with focus on complex and revision endoscopic sinus surgery as well as the extended applications of endoscopic techniques including minimally invasive approaches to the skull base, management of neoplasms, endoscopic pituitary surgery, and orbital decompression. Academic activities will include clinical or basic science research as well as teaching responsibilities for trainees in otolaryngology. Application deadline is May 1 of the year prior to beginning the fellowship.

International Head And Neck Surgery Outreach Program

Visiting Scholar

This program is supported by the Department of Surgery and the Postgraduate Medical Education Office at the University of Alberta

Duration:  3 months

Number of Positions:  1 visiting scholar position available per calendar year

Open to:  International candidates with fellowship and/or board certification (or national equivalent) in Otolarynoglogy – Head & Neck Surgery; General Surgery; Plastic Surgery or other related discipline and who are eligible for temporary licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
