Temporal Bone Dissection Workshop
This temporal bone dissection workshop is designed for practicing otolaryngologists. It aims to enhance fundamental surgical techniques in neurotology through the dissection of cadaveric specimens of the temporal bone, as well as the mastery of essential technical principles for common otologic procedures. The workshop includes 3 hours of applied anatomical dissection in the laboratory, with one specimen per participant.
Learning Objectives
Following the course, participants will be able to master fundamental surgical techniques in neurotology:
- Cortical mastoidectomy - Posterior tympanotomy (facial recess)
- Canal wall down mastoidectomy
- Identification and decompression of the facial nerve
- Labyrinthectomy
- Management of vascular complications

The day is split into two groups AM Group – 8:00 AM – 12:30 and PM Group – 11:30 – 16:00.
- 8:00 Review of surgical steps, technical pearls and management of vascular complications
- 8:30 Dissection
- 11:30 Lunch & Evaluations (Am & PM Group)
- 12:30 Review of surgical steps, technical pearls and management of vascular complications
- 13:30 Dissection
- 16:00 Conclusion & Evaluations
